This week we discuss a few more Tyranid rumors and then get into our plans for the DLT Planetary Empires League and what we want to do at the next Adepticon.

For the second segment we get into expanding your local gaming scene and what you can do about not having enough players.

In the first segment, we get into some rumors and rumor control regarding Tyranids and Space Wolves.

In the second segment, we get into some upcoming Black Library novels and then Dan attempts to break down the Space Wolves codex. You will either be one of the mass of people playing it or crying about codex creep. We round out this segment by discussing Rich's Chaos Intervention and some of the changes he's made with his back to basics approach. He also gives you an assignment.

The third segment starts off with our Buttal/Rebuttal on people spending large amounts of money usually equaling a tournament win. And we finish the segment and show with some rambling and nonsense.

Tonight we cover such diverse topics as 40K and 40K and yet more 40K. Joined by Casey and Nick, we delve into the painting of Planetary Empires and the fun that can be had. We also find out Skrivus is 'that guy' (on some level) and that Richard can be a poor sport.

For the second segment we get into the playing of Planetary Empires and talk about 4 battles for PE involving our 750 lists. We also discuss what went right and what went wrong in our buffed up lists. In this segment, we find out that Dan is a list-tooling douche.

And the third segment is comprised of an email by Raistlin inviting Richard and Dan out to dinner with his wife - we accepted. We also get into some over-rated/under-rated about Librarians and uberlists and round things out with "Did You Know?"

This episode comes with the FDA stamp of approval concerning maximum fecal matter levels for general consumption.

Have you ever played with a doctor? I have, and we both liked it....alot!

This week in studio, we are joined by O-Steve and Skrivus and a partial Sidetrack Nick. In the first segment, we get down to basics with Planetary Empires, Space Hulk and Tyranid rumors before getting into some Hobby University. Don't make the same mistakes I did with washes!!! We also reveal the winner of the Grey Knight army give away. His name is George and he lives at the South Pole...just kidding.

For the second segment, Nick and Jon give us a battle report and then we talk about how we are planning on building up our 500 point Planetary Empires lists into 750 point lists and our thoughts as to why we are taking our lists in a specific direction. At some point we actually consult a rule book and are surprised to find out that Richard is wrong for once!

And for the third segment, Dan sets up the next phase of his plan to take over the world. Then we pimp a tyranid list. Then we have a new segment called "Don'tchya Know" where O-Steve delves into some often misunderstood facets of the rules.

Ian talks about his love of the Deff Kopta. It's kind of gross actually.

There are some spray paint comparisons, who knew they were all so different!

We talk about the Grand Waaagh and how to best pronounce it wrong. We also make up some stories about the U.S.S. Hornet Musuem!

In this, the first episode by the Chicago crew, we are joined by Sidetrack Nick.

For the first segment we round up news and rumors and go from nearly complete Forge Star Campaign to Space Wolves rumors. What's in-between these two topics is more than just a creamy filling.

The second segment Dan and Rich yak up about a great game played on a great table until Jon feels left out and talks about his game on another great table. We tail nicely into how we have changed the basic feel of our armies to be true to our vision of what we play and how we want to play while also following 5th edition and the most current codex. We round out the second segment by discussing Veteran Syndrome and how you can either complain or make changes in your local group for the better.

The third segment is an Over-Rated/Under-Rated from Alex in Australia. Over all, a great episode where you will discover, oddly enough, that the other people on the show actually have a voice and know how to use it!

In the second segment we discuss budget army building. Mack/Demons, Richard/Eldar and Dan/Tau talk about what units they would take for a 1500 point force that costs less than $300 retail price. This second segment is packed with force selection and proposed tactics and the pros/cons of taking one unit over another. Because of Dan's advancing age, he was not on the show tonight. However we did have Mack, Skrivus and Infinitepi and myself.

The first segment was spent as a news round up for our Buycott, a new Horus Heresy novel, Dawn of War II balancing plans and how we are expanding our army give away to more than just one. We also respond to feedback we've received about the boycott... and we THANK YOU ALL for being so generous and really making this prize we are building truly epic!

For the second segment we talk about Infinitepi vs Tricky Dick (Orks vs Space Marines) and getting back to basics with units to show that upgraded does not always equal better units. This is a near classic episode last night with the addition of Jon. It also marks the first time where Rich is not completely "all there" for the show. Much drinking occurred before we recorded.

We talk a little about the Star Trek movie we saw last night and then we transition into the games that Dan and Mack and Skrivus had against each other before the movie. And for some reason, Mack admits that he can't get his unit into a six inch hole.

Fluid 40k Revision 5, Fire Fight & DLT Missions Updates

Lots of updates to our Fluid40k system today. All received an overhaul with tons of changes.

Fluid 40k adapted to the new Guard Codex with changes and clarifications on Inducted Guard. As well some overlooked rules were addressed.

Firefight has had man clarifications.

DLT Missions underwent even more balance testing. We are up over 12 Thousand downloads for this document, so either 1 person really likes it or this is very well received. The hundreds of emails I have gotten about it tell me it's the later. Thanks for all the help and feedback to make the DLT missions book even better!

In this episode, we talk about how to carry your army. From Mack wanting to get custom Battlefoam for his new Guard to my Sabol Design Transports to Dan's modified Tool Box for his cast of Nids, we get into transporting your army for games and at tournaments. Then we BS about Star Trek where CSwizzy admits he might be a closet Star Trek fan.

Next, we get into Imperial Guard hunting. Honestly, I'm really tired of hearing about these new Guard, but when we talk about killing them, I'm a happy guy! But because we have such a GREAT show, we not only talk about killing them, we talk about tactics for some of these units as well. Also during this segment, Rich talks about an anniversary and Mack reveals his sniffing fetish.

For the third segment, Mack rants about something not 40K related (War Machine). Then we get into some over-rated/under-rated from Skrivus about the dirty Tau. We talk/rant about some things Jervis said regarding friendly/tournament players and then we put our own spin on things.

We discuss some over-rated/under-rated contributions by Koschai. Then we go off on a three way 'kill you, kill me' segment. Starting with one unit, the next person talks about how to counter it. Then the next person counters the second person ... continue ad infinitum.

Planet Strike! I don't know much about it, but since it seems geared towards a 500-1500 point game, I'm interested!

No quotes, not out-takes. We get back to the classic set up and lots of great tactics and strategy.

It includes a new 6 Deployment & 6 Objective random mission creation system! It's also got 2 missions for every army! We had to cut it down from 3, as the original list just had to many repeats and not enough originality.

But it's out, and it will hopefully bring a lot of fun to a lot of people!

Did you know that a pitcher of Long Island Ice Tea can't make "Fast & Furious" not suck?

Seriously, Vin Diesel takes a bullet, there is no exit wound... even though it was nearly point blank. He then later has the wound looked at and his sister (who apparently handles bullet wounds all the time) even SAYS that there is no bullet.

Where did the bullet go? Did it fall out? Did Vin Diesel's body eat it?

Oh... and "You have 15 seconds" is a heads up that OVER A MINUTE LATER the 15 seconds will actually be up.

What does this have to do with episode 35?

Fluid 40k Revision 4

We have started running a banner box on Bell Of Lost Souls this week, and with all the new traffic coming to the site it is probably a good idea to give new users a quick tour for what we are all about.

We are a group of crazy gamers who really want to push our hobby to the next level. We don't know what that level is yet but we sure want to find out!

The Fluid 40k section is our attempt to make the best of the current game rules. Many people are disappointed with the current Games-Workshop errata and F.A.Q. system. We have decided to take a positive spin on things and this allows us to keep the game fresh and updated on our own. Fluid 40k is our living document system. It updates at pre-published intervals with the goal being more intuitive game play. Every change is tested as much as possible while being discussed at length on our forums. This means that our users guide production! Find out more about it by downloading it today!

We have started writing rules "conversions" amongst our friends, trying out new things and having a good time in the process. To that end we tidied them up a bit and put them out for others to enjoy. Hopefully you can help give us feedback and make them even better. Our newest release is Firefight, a Kill Teams style game designed for faster game play, usually under half an hour!

Our forums are a great place to chat with people about your newest army, or get involved in our contests! We are also starting up a new Gaming Club (The DLT Hammers) here in the Chicago Area, but you can also setup a Hammers chapter in your city!

Status Update!

We just wanted to let everyone know where we have been this week! We haven't abandoned our goal of weekly shows, far from it. We have, however, had to refocus ourselves a bit. We are tightening up our show format for rotating topic weeks (so we don't have to try so hard to cram things into shows) but more importantly Fluid40k.

Fluid40k is coming along swimmingly. I got our website issues ironed out. Within the next week we should have the new website up and running along with the first public release of Fluid 40k, Mayhem 40k and our first 2 campaigns.

We are very excited.

I have now received a total of 17 emails requesting a donate button. I thought that it was silly, but now I think it's a good idea.

Why do I think it's a good idea?

New Website. Not DiceLikeThunder either... a totally new one. We haven't picked a site name yet but we are starting the process of building our own FAQ website. Where FAQ's are updated and errata is produced to keep old codex's up to date. I'll talk more about it on the show this week but in the mean time I thought it would be a good idea to explain why there is a donate button lurking on the right side of the site.

The Dice Like Thunder team is very excited about this new project. It has become clear that GW would rather have us update and produce rules for their game so that is exactly what we are going to do. I am even going to start running tournaments (once I can secure a location) using the new Errata.

Prize support will come out of the donations we recieve from members of the new site. Basically we plan to have it up and running by December. From there we will update the FAQ/Errata documents EVERY MONTH. Seriously.

This way players can choose to play by the "40k Mayhem" ruleset. It won't be perfect right out of the gate, but it will change every month based on the feedback we recieve. We think it will take about 2 months to get things to a "tournament shine". From there it is off like a prom dress.

I'll talk about it more on the show though. Foshizzle.

Show Delayed!

The next show is slightly delayed because I ran home to visit my family. But we should have a new show soon. We will be HOPEFULLY moving to a weekly show instead of bi-weekly. In addition we will be tightening the format and maybe even getting a few business allies! We call them that instead of sponsors! I know... crazy!

The site will also be going through a few changes in the next few months. It will serve not only as a podcast site but also a center for my Game Design and 3d art projects. That's a bit down the line though.

Our new "tighter" hour format will be as follows:

-Big News of the Week from a "Tactics" standpoint.
-Tactical Discussion on a specific topic.
-In depth unit discussion of one or two random units.
-Battle Report (shorter form).
-Rant of the Week

The changes are all done to make the podcast over all more professional. News is self explanatory I think. But we will focus on how this new information deals with specific armies. This will probably be short every week. I'll simply link the full article in the show notes for people to read on their own.

Tactical discussion will deal with topics like "Unit Footprints" and "Unit formations". Things on the table top that really help make us all better tacticians. The "pacing" show has been very popular and I think this needs to really be part of the overall podcast.

Unit discussion will focus around one or two units and how to best utilize them in an army. Depending on the unit we could cover one (tactical squad) or two (sentinels) in a week.

Battle Reports will be recorded in a shorter form. While I liked the two podcast system I felt that information was just being lost because to much time went between recordings. Instead we will discuss all the same things in one session.

Rant of the Week... well it turns out people actually like it when I rant... who knew! So the end of our show every week will be a rant... or an interview once we get things really swinging.

So our new show format promises to be much stronger and more professional. We are going to shy away from doing any more "codex reviews" because other podcasts do that all the time. We want to cover more armies in a week so it is more likely we will talk about something individual listeners want to hear about. If the battle report is between Eldar and Necrons the Tactics will be about Deep Strike and the units discussed might be Assault Squads and Seraphim. It all ties in together but deals with as many armies as possible.

Ok I've rambled on enough. Look for the new show format soon. Our update days will probably shift form wednesday too. Maybe mondays instead!
